Gardenia (Rubiacee family) is a shrub-like plant that grows with difficulty because it requires careful and constant care.
It is a delicate plant, appreciated for many reasons: the glossy leaves, dark green, persist for a whole year and create a contrast with the wonderful flowers, white - cream, very intensely fragrant.
In the house it rarely reaches a meter in height. Its usual height is 50-100 cm, and its diameter is also 50-100 cm. It is a plant that blooms in summer or winter, needs indirect light and abundant watering.
In March-April, replant it, being especially careful not to alter the roots.
Use a calcareous compost based on peat or fertile soil, prepared from a part of sterilized fertile soil, a well-decomposed manure and a peat, to which you add a small amount of sand and pieces of charcoal.
In spring and summer, the mixture must be kept permanently moist, watering it abundantly with warm, non-calcareous water.
Gardenia needs a lot of light, but indirect. Moreover, it must be maintained at a temperature of 21 degrees Celsius.
If it is higher, transfer the plant to a shady place.
In autumn and winter, keep the plant warm and at least 13 degrees Celsius. Water it enough to keep the compost moist and, in the case of plants that bloom in winter, apply a liquid fertilizer when the flowers appear.
Keep the air moist by spraying water only on the leaves. Place the gardenia in a bright, well-ventilated place, but protected from drafts.

To extend the life of the flowers, we recommend:
DO NOT expose the flowers to the sun and keep them out of the current;
Cut obliquely from the stem of flowers about 2 cm;
Place the flowers in the vase with cold water as soon as you receive them;
Change the water from the vase to a maximum of 3 days;
Remove the leaves from the water;
Expose the flowers in the coolest area of the house....
